The event was setup via twtvite. I have seen this used for several events and it is great for tweetups. There was one slight problem I found out later. The event was setup in Mountain Standard Time. Arizona doesn’t use Day Light Savings Time and thus my Google calendar is set to Mountain Standard (Arizona) Time. So I was in downtown Phoenix an hour early. No worries though I just stopped by LUX coffee and ended up running into several friends.

After enjoying a great latte it was time to head over to #smunch at @galloblanco. So what the heck is Smunch? The local one that I went to is the brainchild of @matthewpetro @traciepetro @ToniaMBartz. They seen a lot of locals getting together for night time events, and asked why not brunch? From this the Saturday morning brunch was born.

While I didn’t really know anyone there I was instantly welcomed into the group. Some where regulars others were also first timers. We had great food, great company, great service and an overall fabulous time. The owner of Gallo Blanco (Doug Robson) seen the #smunch as we were live tweeting and even stopped by our table to say thanks and make sure everything was ok. He personally runs the @galloblanco twitter account, awesome!

As the snooze button kept reappearing in my life every 5 minutes 5:30 quickly became 6:05.

I could hear the Matrix in my head "get up trinity, GET UP!" At this point I had turned my thoughts of running this morning into thoughts of taking a nice relaxing walk. At least I would be doing some physical activity that would make the rest of my day more productive. In a zombie like state I proceeded to put on my workout gear, grab my iPod and get this thing going. I started queuing up the iPod to the audio book I have been listening to, however the audio books I listen to tend to require full attention so I decided to throw on some music as I continued getting ready. Then I remembered I made some new playlists last night of some of my older techno/trance albums. DJ John Kelly – Funky Desert Breaks 2 was my selection today. Fully intending on putting the audio book on once I got outside, I let the gradual start to the album guide me.

I exited the house and decided to finish the song I was on, forgetting that it was 80 minutes worth of non-stop tracks. Then it happened [insert epiphany here]. My body began locomotion all by itself. The music was powering my soul and suddenly I started running, in an awkward Forest Gump kinda way. Continuing down the street I seemed to forget about the audio book, my foot didn’t seem to hurt anymore and the soreness in my legs was waning. My heart and lungs seemed to be in a perfect symbiotic relationship giving my body the oxygen it needed.

While not the fastest run I ever did, it was very rewarding. I never did turn the audio book on and then I realized that maybe sometimes all life needs is a good soundtrack, what is your soundtrack today?

Awesome job guys, love messing with Little Joe, not sure why he still hangs around us with all this abuse.

There have been some major changes in my life recently and some of these thoughts weighed heavy in my heart.

I was asked the night before to be a pallbearer; honored and amazed I accepted. This man was as close to a solid father figure as I had ever had. Holding my chin up and after putting on the drab grey gloves I helped to lift the casket into the hearse. After I quickly turned to my best friend in the world, with tears beading in her eyes I just held her as we headed to the church.

Presenting a strong rock to lean on I was honored to be here. We arrived at the graceful church and I prepared to escort the exquisite casket up to the alter. Slowly we lifted his casket onto a sturdy wheeled stand. Most people had entered the church except for the immediate family, they all waited by the door to welcome him into church. Now I wanted to be strong for all those who may need me. Once we got the stand to the entrance all of the pallbearers were asked to place their hands on the now draped casket and guide him up to the front. Until this point I was strong, I was a rock. Upon our entrance a single voice began…’Amazing Grace, how sweet it is’. Tears rolled freely down my face. Sadness was overcoming me. I looked at his brothers, and the other three pallbearers around the slowly moving casket. All of them with tears in there eyes.

I am human. (thankfully)

The rest of the mass was difficult, uplifting and filled with intense grief. Some how it is appropriate to hear baby noises, it ushers in new life as others expire.

I was worried that I had completely detached, or would be so pre-occupied with my own earthly problems. Honored to be there, and glad to be there for a great friend who needed me.

Steve, you will be missed.

Now if someone can explain to me how the blackberry can track satellites while being buried in my fanny pack, that would be great.

As you can see from the picture even in my office where I took this picture it stated it is tracking 9 satellites????
